The Nurse Educator functions under the supervision of the Director of Professional Practice. The Nurse Educator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing educational programs in the hospital departments at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. This may include providing classroom orientation for employees, developing, coordinating and participating in the mandatory hospital educational programs. Assist department managers in the development of orientation and competency educational tools. Assist in the maintaining of staff development records. Assist in the development of patient educational materials and documentation forms.
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. BSN or Bachelor’s in Education with RN and completion of MSN within 5 years of hire.
Previous health education experience desirable. Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in a hospital setting. Possess current comprehensive knowledge and skills in nursing and/or health care education.
ACLS, PALS and the American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR instructor status within one year of hire or upon next scheduled instructor status. Professional nursing certification specific to the approval list by OSF St. Joseph Medical Center Nursing Professional Cabinet within 2 years of hire unless otherwise approved.
