Description

As part of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction of a radiologist, the radiology technologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.  They are responsible for performing technical procedures that may require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. They perform patient intake by collecting medical history and must be able to answer patient questions regarding the imaging procedure.  They follow specific instructions from providers on what areas to image and guide patients through the imaging process safely and comfortably.  In addition, they operate imaging equipment proficiently, have a firm understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body, demonstrate knowledge of proper imaging techniques (i.e. positioning and technical factors) in special populations such as children, the elderly, and patients with debilitating conditions and may confer with providers on the results of imaging tests and collaborate to determine whether additional images are required. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Illinois: current Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)

 

Illinois and Michigan:  American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered

 

Illinois and Michigan:  2 year certificate from an approved school of Radiology Technology

 

Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required prior to start date of employment

 

Illinois and Michigan:  ability to perform a variety of radiologic procedures with consideration to quality of the images 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Associate Degree in Radiology Technology

 

Experience preferred but new graduate technologist meeting employment criteria considered
