Based in Peoria three days a week and travel within the Eastern Region (Bloomington, Pontiac, Urbana and Danville) two days a week


Provides professional ethics resource needs for OSF Ministry Services, the OSF Eastern Region and collaboratively throughout the OSF HealthCare Ministry. Provides organizational and clinical ethics consultation, and education in Ministry Services and the acute care facilities of the Eastern Region.  For the sake of a lived culture of proactive ethics, the ethicist is a key figure for the integration of Ethics and Values in clinical practice, organizational decision making, practice and operations. Serves as principal ethics consultant for the four ethics committees in the Eastern Region; planner of agenda with committee chairpersons, and developer of educational committee educational programs. Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of facility ethics educational programs beyond the ethics committees.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Graduate degree in theology, philosophy, bioethics, law or psychology/counseling.

 

1 year of healthcare experience. 

 

This position requires the candidate be a practicing Catholic. 

 

Accepts, supports, and presents in the instructional context the moral teachings of the Catholic Church, particularly those on the beginning of human life and the issues of death and dying.  

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 Other professional or advanced degrees and health care ethics related experience will be considered on a case by case basis.

 

Possesses sensitivity and respect to the needs of other cultures, traditions, and religious beliefs and practices.

 

Possesses mediation skills in personal interaction and group settings. 

 

Ability to teach and present educational and development programs clearly and effectively.
