The RN / Patient Access Services Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and clinical information to assure financial integrity and registration precision of the account. Exceptional customer service skills are expected of the employee to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external customers over the phone or in person. Information is articulated to patients, guarantors, and family members in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, expectations of them while at the facility, and their financial responsibilities for the services provided. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.

3 years' RN experience, inpatient and/or office
Within 1 year of date of hire, complete required revenue cycle education provided by department and obtains corresponding certification.
Registered Nurse license (State of Illinois active status)
Requires strong attention to detail and ability to obtain and record information accurately.
Requires communication skills to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing with peers, supervisors, payors, physicians, patients, other departments, etc.
Ability to understand, interpret, evaluate and resolve basic patient service issues.
Basic problem solving skills to address patient issues appropriately and know when to ask for assistance.
Requires conflict management skills, and time management skills.
Customer service environment, experience with office applications and Internet is preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Basic knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers is preferred.
