Description

Reports to the Behavioral Health Administration reporting to  Clinical Services division and is responsible for providing psychological services and the examination and promotion of behavioral change, when warranted to patients presenting in primary care with concerns ranging from psychosocial considerations to physical and mental health concerns.  In doing so, engages in activities such as interviewing patients, families, and other appropriate personnel in order to obtain information regarding patient’s personal, medical, and mental health history.  Selects, administers and interprets self-report questionnaires to assist with diagnoses and formulation of treatment plans, and assistance in developing baseline data. Consults and collaborates with other treatment team members as neces­sary (i.e., patient, family members, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, care managers, psychiatrists, medical office assistants, etc., in order to provide optimum treatment planning. Uses a variety of brief, evidenced based therapy approaches with motivational interviewing as the foundation of communication with the patients and family. Monitors patients' progress and requests input, revising treatment plans as necessary. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. 

 

This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.

 

 

 

 

Knowledge of principles of psychology, human development and behavior, and psychological treatment procedures as normally acquired through completion of requirements for master's degree in clinical social work and a minimum of 3-5 years of post- licensure experience with an emphasis on evidenced based therapy skills for individuals families and groups.

 

 

 

 

Certificate in and or skilled in Primary Care Behavioral Health but will consider training.

 

 

 

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients, families, employees, medical staff and the media in explaining and providing care to Eating Disorder patients/clients.

 

 

 

 

Analytical skills necessary in order to assess life threatening situations regarding potential suicides, homicides and child abuse and take appropriate action.

 

 

 

 

Ability to administer, score and interpret self-report questionnaires, diagnose mental disorders, and develop treatment plans.

 

 

 

 

Current State of Illinois licensure as a LCSW required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Advanced skills in Motivational Interviewing preferred.
