Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) System Administrator is responsible for providing technical support and system administration for the various business intelligence systems and development tools (end-user and developer). This includes implementing, supporting, modifying, and upgrading various software and server applications. This role is responsible for maintaining and building business intelligence applications and data visualization tools, creating innovative analysis and interpretation, and presenting recommendations to management.  The BI System Administrator helps OSF improve its healthcare delivery system using problem solving techniques to transform data, analyze the results, synthesize solutions, and support decision-making.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in computer science, engineering, information systems, analytics, business, finance, economics, or health care administration.


Epic Clarity data model fundamentals training is required within 90 days of employment and certification within 6 months of employment. 

 

Certification must be maintained as new version training is released.

 

3 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, operations, finance, information systems, or healthcare.

 

Experience developing streamlined user interfaces and building applications that graphically display complex quantitative data. 

 

Development expertise with web applications or business intelligence platforms. Server management or database management experience.

  

Server management, performance monitoring, technical issue troubleshooting, performance optimization, software updates.

 

Ability to become an expert in new information systems quickly, including new server technologies and new business intelligence applications.

 

Expertise with database design principles, methodologies and tools, including, but not limited to, work flows, field structure, table layout, joins, etc.

 

Excellent analytical application development skills (SQL, Java, HTML, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Access, Qlikview/QlikSense, Tableau, TIBCO Spotfire, MicroStrategy, Power BI, mapping/GIS software, Excel (with attention to PowerPivot, PowerQuery, Data Model), VB Script, or similar applications).

 

Manage risk and ambiguity, work effectively with operational staff, leadership, and clinicians to define scope, and be able to manage multiple and often changing priorities.

 

Time management skills in order to deliver high-quality reports and information in a dynamic environment with critical deadlines.

 

Strong analytical skills are required to: address clinical, operational and system related problems, to gather and interpret clinical and financial data, and to prepare clear, concise management reports; analyze both quantitative and qualitative data and find practical solutions to difficult and complex problems; evaluate technology in context of process & reporting needs and utilize such technology applications for creating dashboards, data visualization tools, and reports.

 

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required to share complex information with leaders across the ministry.

 

Independent judgment is required to prioritize tasks and projects and work without a significant amount of day to day supervision on routine or recurring analyses.

  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Knowledge of the OSF HealthCare specific clinical and financial systems including Epic, Midas, Strata, PeopleSoft, Premier, etc. 

 

Experience with payor-generated eligibility/claims data.

 

Demonstrated history of using reporting, spreadsheet, database, and statistical applications.
