Description

Reports to the Manager and uses department policies and procedures to independently perform multiple medical office tasks that support quality patient care. May work in both the clinic and office, and functions of the practice providing clerical support (scheduling, billing, and coding) and patient care support activities at the direction of the manager. The incumbent performs the duties described below in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. 

 

This requires that the incumbent demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of the patient population served.

 

 

Requires successful completion of an accredited medical assistant training program usually requiring up to one year of technical training beyond high school, or has completed equivalent program through the medical center.

 

 

Work requires the interpersonal skills to greet patients, obtain required information and respond to inquiries regarding patient bills.

 

 

Work requires analytical ability to balance patient appointments and organize work in order to perform multiple functions for the department.

 

 

Must be C.P.R. certified and maintain certification every 2 years per OSF SFMC Policy.
