DescriptionUnder general supervision, a Maintenance II performs a variety of the more complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC tasks. This position also aids other skilled tradespersons in the completion of complex tasks such as the installation of new equipment and trouble-shooting and repair of building systems and equipment. This position requires detailed knowledge of and the ability to operate and maintain the facility’s major mechanical systems such as heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, communication, and fire protection.
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Technical training from an accredited school or apprenticeship program for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, or other construction trades is preferred.
Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and to give readily understood information in both verbal and written forms. Ability to read and write is essential.
Requires a minimum of one to two years of progressively more responsible work experience in fields related to maintenance, and/or construction.
Analytical skills necessary to recognize, diagnose, and, within limits, repair equipment and system malfunctions.
Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and shop mechanic skills are required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Familiarity with building and Safety Codes.
