Registered Professional Nurses at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center are licensed professionals empowered to participate in an interdisciplinary approach to meet the expectations of those we serve. Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit(s). 

 

This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.

 

 

Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.

 

Must sign an agreement to obtain BSN within 6 years of hire, if not currently completed.

 

 

Current State license as a Registered Nurse required, along with current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS, CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant through adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills, return demonstration and must be by HR) completed prior to employment.

 

 

Work requires unit-specific orientation and on-the-job training to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop proficiency in use of medical equipment and instru-ments used on assigned unit; to learn nursing care and quality assurance standards; and gain an understanding of the types of patients cared for on the unit, their needs, and effective nursing interventions.

 

 

Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort family members and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers; and to instruct family members and/or significant others in home care procedures.

 

 

Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess patient's physical, psychological and social needs, develops individual¬ized patient care plans, and evaluate patient’s responses to medical and nursing interventions.

 

 

Unit Specific certification and education:

 

a. PALs Certification within 1 year of hire

b. NRP within 6 month of hire

c. STABLE within 6 month of hire

d. Beginner fetal monitoring within 6 month of hire

e. Intermediate fetal monitoring within 1 year of hire

f. Advanced fetal monitoring within 2 years of hire
