The Office of Preparedness and Response (OPR) Director reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer of OSF Healthcare. This leader is responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of a Ministry-wide emergency preparedness and management program. Responsible to work collaboratively with EMS Education,  Quality and Safety, Clinical Operations, Information Management, facility leadership, and Emergency Departments to improve the emergency preparedness of OSF Healthcare, regional medical facilities and EMS Systems. This director will coordinate and oversee the disaster and emergency preparedness and response of OSF Healthcare System, EMS Systems within OSF and will develop plans and training that will meet regulatory standards.

This individual will have significant interaction within the community integrating the emergency response of OSF HealthCare with EMS and community response. The OPR Director will assist in all aspects of applying concepts of emergency management (mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery) to all emergency management programs across the various settings and facilities in the healthcare system with the objective of improving organizational performance through a Ministrywide approach. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Knowledge of state and federal regulations with regards to healthcare safety issues, emergency management planning and preparation of reports and statistical analysis at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Health, Environmental Health or closely related field. 

 

Approximately 3 to 5 years progressively more responsible related work experience necessary in order to gain a thorough understanding of emergency management, safety and EMS/Trauma education.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Background in emergency, disaster, hazardous materials and prolonged care medicine in relation to disasters and terrorism.
