Job Description

Description

Participates as a full member of the healthcare team providing for the pastoral needs of patient/clients, families, and staff.  Assisting patients/clients to understand more fully life's events as they relate to their spiritual and emotional well-being.  May offer prayer or reflection to patients/clients, visitors, families and staff.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree

 

1 year of pastoral experience

 

Ability to lead and coordinate prayer and articulate the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Facilities.

 

Solid standing in the Church through ecclesiastical endorsement.

 

(Protestant) Meets requirements of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria with regard to the appointment of non-Catholic members to the pastoral care staff of a Catholic healthcare institution.

 

Ability and stamina to minister to patients/clients with varying physical and mental dysfunctions.

 

Ability to lead and coordinate prayer.

 

Flexibility in work hours, programs, and services.

 

Ability and desire to work with clergy and volunteers of varying faith backgrounds.

 

Experience in working as part of a team; good communications skills.

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Master's degree in divinity, religion or related field. 

 

Certification by the appropriate clinical pastoral agency:  National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), and/or Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).


