Job Description


The Medical Director of OSF Virtual Care Center will provide leadership and overall responsibility for the Virtual Care Center medical care offered at OSF Healthcare System. This position collaborates with the VP of TeleHealth to provide oversight to the Virtual Care Center team, and will be responsible for the delivery of key services including: clinical care of the complex, chronic patient population, clinical quality, performance management, change management, regulation compliance, and creation of clinical care guidelines. Develops new and innovative virtual care services building upon existing telehealth platforms. This position will collaborate with OSF MultiSpecialty Service including OSF Medical Group, OSF Specialty Group, and the OSF service lines. This position will be responsible for clinical business planning, business development activities and other telehealth service strategic growth.





Graduate of an accredited medical school with a current medical license to practice medicine in the state of Illinois.


Knowledge of health care administration, basic statistics, and management as normally acquired through completion of a Master's degree in hospital administration, business administration or related field. 


Minimum of 5 years of practice as a licensed physician. 


Board certified in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or General Surgery


Advanced interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with a wide variety of influential healthcare personnel and physicians when handling highly sensitive issues, and with community organizations and outside agency officials when gathering and exchanging information, and ability to promote and maintain good physician relations.


Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to develop and implement new services, systems and/or procedures, determine needs for capital equipment and personnel, improve the financial performance of assigned departments, and prepare complex, special and recurring reports or analyses.






Minimum of 2 years healthcare administrative experience in order to fully understand division services and market conditions, healthcare system standards and policies, and government and accreditation agency requirements, and to effectively direct and plan the development of division service lines.


Supervisory experience is highly desirable.


Relevant work in telehealth and/or start up experience.
