Responsible for coordinating all acquisition and standardization efforts within assigned pharmacy and related product categories for OSF Healthcare System. Conducts market research, performs cost benefit analysis, develops RFI/RFP documents and negotiates some contracts including content and terms, for assigned product categories. Mediates and resolves issues and disputes between vendors and OSF Healthcare System. Responsibilities and activities are done in support of the OSF Healthcare System, which includes but is not limited to; Surgery Centers, Physician Enterprise, Acute Care Facilities, Home Care, Saint Francis, Inc., and Affiliates.
Professional knowledge of pharmacy practice and management in order to prepare necessary analyses and reports at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy or MS/Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).
1 to 3 years related pharmacy experience within settings that provided a depth and breadth of experiences: i.e.: oversight of pharmacy supply chain across hospital, retail, clinic, or home care settings.
Requires licensure as a registered pharmacist in the state of Illinois.
Must possess proven skills in written/verbal communications, independent problem solving, decision, making, creativity, prioritization, and necessary computer-related skills.
Knowledge of the principles, standards, and technology applicable to the pharmacy supply chain.
Knowledge of the principles, standards, and technology applicable to pharmaceutical services and to medication safety.
A personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of OSF and the Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of continuous process and performance improvement.
Ability to keep abreast of trends in contemporary pharmacy practice including specialty pharmacy, pharmacy distribution technologies, and inventory management.
Self-starting individual with good personal relationship skills and the ability to act upon their own independent thought processes.
Effective in negotiation and acquisition of pharmacy supplies.
Analytical skills necessary to analyze contracts/agreements against variable financing opportunities.
ASHP, state, and other professional memberships are preferred.
Direct supervisory experience in pharmacy operations preferred.
Previous experience with Group Purchasing Organization, pharmacy suppliers or distributors, and infusion systems/pumps preferred.
